CHATHAM FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT MINUTES
SPECIAL MEETING
May 24, 2007
Meeting called to order at 1800 hours with Trustee Sullivan, Trustee Butler, Trustee Branham, Chief Schumer, Assistant Chief Osborne, Firefighter Bolletta and Firefighter Baker present.
Trustee Sullivan discussed insurance quotes from VFIS and ESIP. ESIP did not include bonding for Trustees. Trustee Butler made a motion that insurance quotes be compared and recommendation will be made at the June Board meeting. Motion was seconded by Trustee Branham and passed by a unanimous aye vote.
Trustee Butler made a motion that all trustees need to sign the signature cards at Bank and Trust and United Community Bank, any two signatures will be required on all checks effective June 1, 2007. Motion was seconded by Trustee Sullivan and was passed by unanimous aye vote. Trustee Sullivan asked if a decision on what to pay the Board of Fire Commissioners was needed. Trustees decided to wait and see what the Commissioners recommendations would be. Trustee Butler discussed repair of the garage doors. Midwest Door has not repaired the door. Trustee Butler will contact Glenn Brothers Doors about repairing the door and make recommendations on what needs to be repaired.
Trustee Sullivan asked about a new Fire Commissioner. This will be discussed in an executive session.
Assistant Osborne stated we have 24 grave markers; he is compiling a list of deceased fireman and Trustees and will try to get a location on graves. Markers will be placed for Memorial Day. Trustee Branham made a motion to order 24 grave markers; motion was seconded by Trustee Sullivan and passed by unanimous aye vote.
Chief Schumer- Spiller Pay Ordinance date will be amended to May 24, 2207 and will be published. Motion was made by Trustee Sullivan to amend date of Spiller Pay Ordinance 06-CFPD-04 date to May 24,2007. Motion was seconded by Trustee Butler and passed by unanimous aye vote.
No update on Pension Board meeting 5/24/2007.
Office Manager Dawn Sanchez is attending a course on billing; she will make recommendations for changes.
Questions on Plaques and Axes for awards, 15-19, 20-25, 25-30 years for retirement awards. Chief Schumer will make his recommendations at June District meeting. Firefighter Charles Baker asked about steam cleaners, Firefighter Baker will research cleaners and prices.
Ambulance is coming along; the estimated completion is the middle of June.
Fire Prevention items need to be ordered as soon as new catalogs are received.
IPRF stopped by on 5/24/07 and gave us our inspection. He will make recommendations and send a letter of inspection. (Fire cabinet, emergency shower, MSDS files on products, safety committee, air tanks secured.)
Captain Rose attended software meeting by Firehouse Software. 7.0 versions will be coming and we will be getting an upgrade. EMS reporting software will also be updated.

Commissioners meeting May 31st, 2007
Trustee Butler made a motion to increase salaries of Sanchez and Osborne by 3%. Seconded by Trustee Branham and passed by a unanimous aye vote. The other employees will not receive a raise until contract negotiations are complete.
Trustee Sullivan made a motion to appoint Chuck Bliefnick as a Fire commissioner. Motion was seconded by Trustee Butler and passed by unanimous aye vote.
Chief Schumer will be receiving his raise per his contract as of June 1, 2007.
