ORDINANCE NO. 08-CFPD-05

 

ELECTING PARTICIPATION IN THE ILLINOIS MUNICIPAL

RETIREMENT FUND FOR THE

CHATHAM COMMUNITY FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT

 

WHEREAS, Article 7 of the Illinois Pension Code provides that a unit of government may elect to participate in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund by the adoption of a resolution or ordinance of its governing body, participation to begin following receipt by the Board of Trustees of the Fund of official notice of the election by the unit of government, and;

WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees believes it is in the best interests of the District and its employees to participate in the established retirement systems of the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund;

NOW, THEREFORE, the Chatham Community Fire Protection District by its Board of Trustees, hereby ordains as follows:

 

1.     That the Chatham Community Fire Protection District, Sangamon, Illinois,

     does hereby elect to participate in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund,

     according to its rules and regulations.

2.     That the standard for individual participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund shall be a position with the District normally requiring performance of duty in a minimum amount for 2080 hours per year.

3.     That the Secretary of the Board of Trustees is hereby named as the Authorized Agent on behalf of the Chatham Community Fire Protection District to deal with the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund and the Secretary is hereby directed to promptly file a certified copy of this Ordinance along with the Completed Notice of Appointment of Authorized Agent in the form attached as Exhibit A with the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund.

4.     This Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage by the Board of Trustees and the Chatham Community Fire Protection District.
