candy inspection 101
While Halloween-candy tampering is uncommon, it's a good idea for you
to take a close look at all your child's treats :
-
Make sure your child understands that he/she
isn't allowed to sample any treats until you inspect them at home.
-
Wait until children are home to sort and check treats.
-
Though
tampering is rare, a responsible Adult should closely examine all treats
and throw away any spoiled, unwrapped, ones with tiny pinholes in the
covers, or look suspicious in any way.
-
Toss treats that aren't commercially wrapped,
such as homemade cookies and fruit (unless you trust the giver).
-
Try to appropriate treats for the days following Halloween.
-
Although sharing is encouraged, make sure items that can cause choking
(such as hard candies), are given only to those of an appropriate age.
