CHATHAM FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT

July 8, 2008

 

  • Present were: Trustee Hughes, Trustee Sullian, Chief Schumer, Captain Bell, Firefighters Gerberding, Bucci, and Bolletta, Office Manager Dawn Sanchez, Commissioner Chuck Bliefnick, Scott Snider, and Don Butler.

 

  • Meeting was called to order at 1830

 

  • June’s minutes read and motion to approve by Trustee Hughes and seconded by Trustee Sullivan, motion passed:

  • Pay bills as shown on ledger, motion to approve by Trustee Hughes and seconded by Trustee Sullivan, motion passed:

  • OLD BUSINESS
    • According to the actuarial statement the District needs to deposit $125,586.00 into the Pension account. Motion to pay the Firefighters Pension Fund $125,586.00 was made by Trustee Hughes and seconded by Trustee Sullivan, motion passed:

  • NEW BUSINESS
    • Trustee Sullivan will be stepping down August 15, 2008. He had originally given his resignation for June 30, 2008, but stayed on temporarily at the request of the Sangamon County Board.
    • New software and a new service plan will be needed to switch payroll to a direct deposit format. Motion to approve the purchase and go forward with direct deposit made by Trustee Sullivan and seconded by Trustee Hughes, motion passed:

    • The subscription to the State Journal Register is set to expire at the end of July. Motion to renew subscription for one more year made by Trustee Hughes and seconded by Trustee Sullivan, motion passed:

  • BOARD OF FIRE COMMISSIONERS
    • There will be a meeting at 1605 hrs on July 16, 2008 to further discuss hiring and background checks.

 

  • PENSION BOARD
    • N/A

 

  • OTHER BUSINESS
    • Trustee Hughes wanted to schedule the special meetings that will be needed after the background checks start and the Board of Fire Commissioners get further into the final stages of the hiring process. The meeting dates agreed upon are as follows:

07/17/08 @ 1600 hours

07/24/08 @ 1600 hours

08/07/08 @ 1600 hours

 

  • CHIEF SCHUMER
    • Five new pagers were order from GTSI, they will be delivered Friday, July 11, 2008. Motion to purchase five more new pagers made by Trustee Hughes and seconded by Trustee Sullivan, motion passed:

    • GTSI will be here Friday July 11, 2008 to repair the radio in Engine 1
    • Knox boxes have been ordered by Captain Rose
    • Heritage grant has been approved for $5,000.00. Doug Knight would like to have a presentation to formally present the check to the Chatham Fire Protection District.
    • The State Police ORI number is now in for the background checks to be completed. The letters with the information from Verify, Inc. will go out on July 9, 2008. All nine applicants and three volunteers will all have background checks preformed. Chief Schumer is hoping to have the background checks completed by July 16, 2008.
    • The Sangamon County Fire Chiefs meeting will be held in Auburn, IL on July 22, 2008. Chief Schumer and Assistant Chief Osborne will both attend.
    • H&H Builders contacted Chief Schumer about building the new firehouse, he told them it would be quite some time before any plans would be drawn up. He did talk to them about checking some leaks and some cracks in the foundation at our current building. They are coming on July 9, 2008 to look at the building.
    • Sgt. Mazrim called Chief Schumer about having an ambulance available for the physical agility testing July 19, 2008 at ISP. An agreement will be drawn up agreeing to have an ambulance there; volunteers will man it.
    • The support agreement with Data SmartCard is ready to expire; a two-year extension of the agreement will cost $253.00. Motion to extend agreement was made by Trustee Hughes and seconded by Trustees Sullivan, motion passed:

    • Twenty bottles are due for hydrostatic testing in December

 

 

  • Board of Trustees went into executive session at 1900 hrs.
  • Board of Trustees came out of executive session at 2007 hrs

 

  • Trustee Hughes and Trustee Sullivan would like Office Manager, Dawn Sanchez, to look into Firefighters FLSA pay from November 2, 2003 to May 31, 2006

.

  • Meeting was adjourned at 22020 hours
