CHATHAM FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT

May 13, 2008

The meeting was called to order at 1830 hours, Trustee Butler, Trustee, Branham, Trustee Sullivan, Chief Schumer, Donna Siders, Captains Rose and Bell, Firefighters Hughes, Bramley, Gerberding, Baker, and Dawn Sanchez.

Donna Siders with VFIS/Midwest Insurance was here to present the Accident & Sickness proposal. Trustee Butler made a motion to increase medical coverage from $5,000 to $15,000 on Accident & Sickness. Trustee Branham seconded the motion; motion was passed with a unanimous aye vote. Renewal for Property and Casualty is $842 higher than last year. The increase is due to the addition of vehicles and classifications. Ms. Siders will also provide bonding information to the Pension Officers.

Trustee Butler made a motion to approve the minutes from April’s meeting. Trustee Sullivan seconded the motion; motion was passed with a unanimous aye vote.

Trustee Branham made a motion to pay bills as shown. Trustee Butler seconded the motion; motion passed with a unanimous aye vote.

Old Business- Trustee Branham presented letter to the Lederband Bros. concerning the ground that was purchased.

Pension Board- Pension Board presented a letter to the District to have the pension money deposited in the Bank and Trust Pension account. Trustee Butler made a motion to table the issue until next meeting. Trustee Branham seconded the motion; motion was passed by a unanimous aye vote. The District Board will look into using the upcoming tax payments to pay the pension.

Board of Fire Commissioners-Paula Staab Polk filled the board in on where the hiring process stands.

New Business- Captain Rose asked the District to purchase two blades for the K-12 saw. The blades are $240 apiece. Trustee Butler made a motion to purchase the blades. Trustee Sullivan seconded the motion; motion passed with a unanimous aye vote.

District went in to executive session at 2045 hours.

District went back in to open session at 2145 hours.

Trustee Butler made a motion for training for FTC in Springfield’s Office of the State Fire Marshal. Trustee Branham seconded the motion; motion was passed with a unanimous aye vote.

Trustee Sullivan read a letter from the Sangamon County Board stating that Trustee Branham’s reappointment is not being signed. Trustee Branham’s term will end May 31, 2008. Trustee Branham made a motion to give Dawn Sanchez a 3% raise. Trustee Butler seconded the motion; motion was passed with a unanimous aye vote.
