CHATHAM FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT

September 11, 2007

 

The meeting was called to order at 1830 hours with Trustee Butler, Trustee Sullivan, Trustee Branham, Chief Schumer, Assistant Chief Osborne, Firefighter Rogers, Firefighter Bramley, Firefighter Bolletta , Firefighter Gorbett, and Firefighter Gerberding present.

Trustee Branham made a motion to approve budget ordinance 07CFPD01, there have been no public response to budget. Motion was seconded by Trustee Butler, passed with a unanimous aye vote. 

Trustee Sullivan made a motion to pay bills as shown on ledger. Trustee Butler seconded motion, with questions on Ck#12959. Trustee Sullivan made a motion to pass last month’s minutes; motion was seconded by Trustee Butler, and passed with a unanimous aye vote. 

Trustee Sullivan made a motion to send letter to the Board of Fire Commissioners to ask them to create a list for hiring a minimum of 3 FF/Paramedics. Motion was seconded by Trustee Butler and passed with a unanimous aye vote. Trustee Branham presented a letter from legal counsel Claire Manning with her recommendation on Income Tax withholding; PEDA payments, dated 8/22/2007. 

Trustee Branham read ordinance 07CFPD05, Trustee Sullivan made a motion to pass ordinance; motion was seconded by Trustee Butler, and passed with a unanimous aye vote. Jimmie Gerberding, Local 4490 Secretary, presented a letter for union dues deductions. Assistant Chief Osborne presented information for possible sale of 1996 Rescue Truck; information will be sent to Banner to receive their opinion on pricing. A copy will also be sent to AEC. Engine 4 discussions were tabled until we figure out prices.   

Firefighter Gorbett has information about Senior Citizen Expo and the initial start up for Senior Fire Safety Education. Trustee Sullivan made a motion to join NFPA for pricing consideration; motion was seconded by Trustee Butler and passed with a unanimous aye vote. It was also mentioned that we tried for grant for Hot Shot Fire Extinguisher, we did not receive this grant. State Farm Grant is going to be available for a cost of 5 to 10% matching funds. Motion was approved.  

Pension Board- Pension Seminar is coming up. AFFI is in Lisle Woodridge, IL on October 8th and 9th. Board appreciated the last pension payment from the District.

 Chief Schumer – Paula Staab Polk will be offering flu shots and would like the Fire Department to be there to do blood pressures. Chief Schumer presented the Sangamon County Dispatch agreement for signatures; the District will review before signing. The AHA Training Center was evaluated and passed inspection for another year. Congratulations to Joe Bolletta, Jimmie Gerberding, and Dustin Bramer. Chief Schumer presented pricing for a plaque of Walter Nowak’s Memorial. Trustee Butler made a motion to commission a plaque for the tree that was planted in Walt’s honor; motion was seconded by Trustee Branham and passed with a unanimous aye vote. 

Motion was made at 2020 hours to go into executive session to discuss personnel matters.

 Executive session ended at 2145 hours and the CFPD Board meeting resumed.  

Trustee Sullivan made a motion that Jason Rausch not be brought on as a volunteer firefighter; motion was seconded by Trustee Branham and passed with a unanimous aye vote.

 Meeting was adjourned at 2150 hours.
