MINUTES
CHATHAM FIRE
PROTECTION DISTRICT
Special Meeting
August 7, 2008
- Present were: Trustee Hughes, Trustee Sullian, Chief
Schumer, Assistant Chief Osborne, Firefighter’s Bolletta, Edie, Jacobs, and
Dawn Sanchez.
- Meeting was called to order at 1600 hours
- Motion to approve the minutes for July 17, 2008 special
meeting was made by Trustee Sullivan and seconded by Trustee Hughes, motion
passed:

- Trustee Hughes thanked Trustee Sullivan for staying on
as a Trustee for the Chatham Fire Protection District.
- NEW BUSINESS
- The Board of Fire Commissioners has been having more
meeting and putting in more time with the new hires and the promotional
process underway. Motion to up the Commissioners yearly rate to $1500.00
effective September 1, 2008 made by Trustee Sullivan and seconded by Trustee
Hughes, motion passed:

- Assistant Chief Osborne was offered a contract.
Assistant Chief Osborne has some questions, which will be discussed in
executive session. Trustee Sullivan would like Chief Schumer to start
working on a contract for Office Manager Dawn Sanchez
- The Lederbrand Contract was presented and signed by
Trustees’ Sullivan and Hughes. Mr. Lederbrand will continue to farm the
seven acres the District has recently purchased. Signed copies will be
mailed to Mr. Lederbrand.
- Ambulance 3-F-27 will be out of service for an
undetermined amount of time. Chief Schumer and Captain Rose have taken it to
Bloomington to be repaired.
- Firefighter Jeremy Jacobs has completed his paramedic
courses at LLCC with high honors. Motion was made to reimburse Firefighter
Jacobs for his summer tuition by Trustee Hughes and was seconded by Trustee
Sullivan, motion was passed:

- The Department has received a grant from the Firemen’s
Fund for approximately $5000.00. The firemen’s Fund and Knights Action Park
would like to do a press release and a check presentation. This grant was
originally earmarked for new genesis tools. Motion was made for Chief
Schumer to purchase new genesis tools and fitting from the lowest bidder and
put the old hemotro tools in storage by Trustee Sullivan and was seconded by
Trustee Hughes, motion passed:

- Fire Prevention week is coming up in October.
Firefighter Gorbett would like to purchase a banner and some posters now and
discuss getting some pre-made bags in a future meeting. Motion to approve
the purchase of a banner and some posters made by Trustee Sullivan and
seconded by Trustee Hughes, motion passed:

- Board of Trustees went into executive session at 1630
hrs.
- Board of Trustees came out of executive session at 1820
hrs
- Assistant Chief Osborne’s questions about his new
contract have been answered and he has signed the contract. Contract will be
effective September 1, 2008. Motion to approve and sign Assistant Chief
Osborne’s contract by Trustee Sullivan and seconded by Trustee Hughes, motion
passed:

- Effective immediately social security will no longer be
taken from employees in the Firefighter’s Pension Fund. The accountant will
begin helping the District and individual employees get their reimbursement
from the Social Security Administration. The Social Security Administration
will only reimburse for the last three years. Motion was made by Trustee
Sullivan to adopt Ordinance 08-CFPD-03, to no longer deduct social security
from members of the Firefighters Pension Fund, motion was seconded by Trustee
Hughes, motion passed:

Sullivan yes
- Trustee Sullivan will begin investigating our cell phone
contract with AT & T. He will look into setting up a new cell phone contract
with a local AT & T dealer.
- The Board of Trustees have given their tentative
approval for Chief Schumer and Assistant Chief Osborne to go to Peoria on
October 19, 2008 for a seminar given by the Fire Chief’s Association.
- Motion to adjourn meeting at 1830 hours made by Trustee
Sullivan and seconded by Trustee Hughes, motion passed:
