CHATHAM FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT

August 12, 2008

 

  • Present were: Trustee Hughes, Trustee Sullian, Chief Schumer, Assistant Chief Osborne, Captain Bell, Lt. Mueller, Firefighter Rogers, Office Manager Dawn Sanchez, Commissioner Chuck Bliefnick, Clark Jarrett, and Don Butler.

 

  • Meeting was called to order at 1830

 

  • July’s regular meeting and Special Meeting 08/07/08 minutes were read and motion to approve by Trustee Hughes and seconded by Trustee Sullivan, motion passed:

  • Pay bills as shown on ledger, motion to approve by Trustee Hughes and seconded by Trustee Sullivan, motion passed:

  • OLD BUSINESS
    • Trustee Sullivan has been working on our cell phone account with AT &T. He stated we will stay with our government account, but we will be able to deal directly with our local dealer, SH Wireless.

 

 

  • NEW BUSINESS
    • Chief Schumer showed Trustees’ Sullivan and Hughes a letter to be sent to Dr. Sheedy asking him to be our new department physician. Motion to send the letter to Dr. Sheedy made by Trustee Hughes and was seconded by Trustee Sullivan, motion passed:

    • Chief Schumer informed the Trustees that the tanker is leaking. Chief Schumer is going to contact Precision to see if they can look at it. If they can look at it now, if not we will wait until after harvest.
    • No word from Cummings in Bloomington about 3-F-27 as of yet. Should know more soon.
    • Direct deposit is now up and running, we have approximately ten employees currently signed up.
    • Chief Schumer and Assistant Chief Osborne will both be able to attend the seminar on October 19, 2008.
    • Chief Schumer has quotes on new Genesis tools, Alexis is still the lowest bidder.

 

 

 

  • BOARD OF FIRE COMMISSIONERS
    • There will be a meeting at 1605 hrs on August 20, 2008.

 

  • PENSION BOARD
    • Chief Schumer discussed open meeting act with the Pension Board.

 

 

  • CHIEF SCHUMER
    • The District will be making arrangements with Don Butler to pick up the Saturn demonstration car that he has been keeping on his property. The Saturn will be used for an extrication exercise or for some other training session.                        

 

  • Board of Trustees went into executive session at 1855 hrs.
  • Board of Trustees came out of executive session at 1945 hrs

 

  • The Trustees will hold a special meeting on September 4, 2008 to discuss personnel issues.

 

  • Chief Schumer would like to purchase a complete set of NFPA standards and some additional breakouts; the approximate cost will be $1,700.00. These books will have many uses; the Department now has to do safety checks for the schools, in addition to the standard fire drills. Motion was made to purchase books and breakouts, as well as joining the NFPA at a cost of $150.00 by Trustee Sullivan and seconded by Trustee Hughes, motion passed:

  • The District needs to send the tentative budget to Attorney Grady Holley. Motion was made to send the tentative budget to Grady Holley and have the notice of tentative budget to be place in the Clarion by September 4, 2008 by Trustee Hughes and was seconded by Trustee Sullivan, motion passed:

  • Motion was made to bring on three new volunteers at the September 8, 2008 meeting by Trustee Sullivan and was seconded by Trustee Hughes, motion passed:

  • It will be up for a vote at the September 16, 2008 meeting whether or not to make Probationary Firefighter Brockway a permanent member of the Chatham Fire Department. It will be discussed whether Firefighter Brockway has fulfilled all his probationary obligations and training in the time that was given to him.

 

  • Meeting was adjourned at 2007 hours
