PRE-PROM NIGHT PROGRAM

This program was designed to educate the students of the potential deadly consequences of drinking and driving. The Chatham Fire Department, Chatham Police Department, Illinois State Police, Sangamon County Sheriff's Office, Lifestar Ambulance, Springfield Area Ambulance, Ball-Chatham School District #5, Village of Chatham, SIU School of Medicine and Air Evac Lifeteam were all sponsors as well as participants of this program.

CAREER DAYS

We work with the school district to provide the students at Chatham Elementary School, Glenwood Middle School, and Ball Elementary School with information regarding the type of skills our occupation demands and discuss the different types of equipment that a firefighter or EMT will use while performing their duties.

We discuss with the students the need for them to do well in their studies; because they will need them to perform the duties of a firefighter or any other occupation they choose later in their lives.  We discuss with them the importance of having good Math, English, Writing, and Reading skills.

STUDENT SPORTS TRAINER PROGRAM

The program is designed so that the Chatham Fire Department EMT's assist the Glenwood High School Trainer in educating the students in proper spinal and extremities immobilization. The most common injuries associated with each sport is addressed so that the students receive a well rounded course. The Glenwood High School Trainer has stated that this course provides valuable knowledge to the students.

FOOTBALL GAMES

The Chatham Fire Department provides Emergency Medical Services for all the Glenwood High School football games. The Chatham Fire Department positions an ambulance at the field for the games to render any aid that may be needed.
